Emergencies
In the event of accidents or emergencies, the user can call the Concessionary Company’s Operations Centre, using the SOS service present along the route, or by dialling 800 003999, which, depending on the need, will request the intervention of the Traffic Police and Traffic Auxiliaries, and also of the other institutional bodies in charge: Fire brigade, health emergency service, ARPA for alleged environmental pollution cases, ASL if perishable goods are involved, the veterinary service if animals are involved, the Guardia di Finanza, in the case of goods subject to customs procedures.
The Concessionary Company ensures round-the-clock availability of a specialised company, in case prompt environmental remediation is required.
Alternatively, the user can dial the 112 Single Emergency Number.
Mechanical Rescue
The Operations Centre oversees the mechanical rescue service; this task is delegated to the ACI Global and VAI Europ Assistance organisations, which operate through their own authorised workshops.
This service is guaranteed 24/7. Mechanical assistance may be requested directly from authorised organisations or from the Concessionary Company’s Operations Centre. If the Concessionary Company is involved, the operator will ascertain whether the vehicle is in a safe position and which organization is requested by the user.
If the vehicle is not in a safe position, or creates an obstacle or danger, the Operations Centre will send to the scene the tow truck closest to the vehicle to be rescued, regardless of the organisation indicated by the user.
From the moment the distress call is forwarded to the Concessionary Company’s operations centre, a time margin for the arrival of the vehicle to be rescued at the scene is calculated as follows:
- For light-duty vehicles: 30 minutes during the day and 45 minutes at night (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM).
- For heavy-duty vehicles: 60 minutes during the day and 70 minutes at night (10:00 PM – 6:00 AM).
